PV3 at the Princeton CFD Laboratory

چکیده
The scientific activity in the CFD laboratory in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Princeton is centered on the development of advanced computational simulation techniques in the aerodynamic design of modern aircraft, and the prediction hydrodynamic performance of ships. Computer codes based on on both structured body-fitted meshes and unstructured tetrahedral meshes have been developed in the past fifteen years. These generate a large amount of data that needs to be postprocessed. Thus, visualization plays a major role in the analysis of computed flow fields. Also, parallel computers have enabled the development of automatic design optimization techniques. The costs of, and the amount of data generated by these calculations is orders of magnitude larger than that generated by a simple analysis run. Thus, data visualization is paramount for all the research conducted in our CFD laboratory. This paper describes some of our typical CFD applications, and the use of PV3 which is used for the visualization of the computed flow.

un 2 00 9 ON THE PURE VIRTUAL BRAID GROUP PV
In this article, we investigate various properties of the pure virtual braid group PV3. From its canonical presentation, we obtain a free product decomposition of PV3. As a consequence, we show that PV3 is residually torsion free nilpotent, which implies that the set of finite type invariants in the sense of GoussarovPolyak-Viro is complete for virtual pure braids with three strands. Moreover w...
متن کاملpV3: A Distributed System for Large-Scale Unsteady CFD Visualization
This paper presents a distributed architecture for the vi-sualization of large steady and transient data-sets. Because one of the goals is to not have to store away the 10s to 100s of Gigabytes necessary to perform a post-processing animation of the data, this system must be able to run concurrently with the task producing the data. This requirement forces portions of the visualization system t...
متن کاملAutomatic Construction of Persian ICT WordNet using Princeton WordNet
WordNet is a large lexical database of English language, in which, nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs are grouped into sets of cognitive synonyms (synsets). Each synset expresses a distinct concept. Synsets are interlinked by both semantic and lexical relations. WordNet is essentially used for word sense disambiguation, information retrieval, and text translation. In this paper, we propose s...
متن کاملDEVELOPMENT OF A PELLET SCALE MODEL FOR TRICKLE BED REACTOR USING CFD TECHNIQUES
In this study, a pellet scale model was developed for trickle bed reactor utilizing CFD techniques. Drag coefficients were calculated numerically at different velocities and bulk porosities in the case of single phase flow through the dry bed. The simulation results were then compared with the prediction of Kozeny-Carman (K-C) equation. The results indicated that drag coefficients calculated fr...
